Future Transitions is a website developed to promote a rational, staggered transition for the Australian community. The participants involved in this site understand that transitioning and forward planning is a difficult concept to embrace. We are distracted by so many things in our day-to-day lives and many of us just want to live the best life we can. “Transition” by definition, in its simplest form, must consider the costs and fiscal ($$) outlay to transition the economy to move it forward. Transition is a soft word for “change”! And certainly,  this change and transition must go beyond simple political considerations.

In its simplest form, if the Government found the funds and committed $6 Billion per year through the CEFC or a 'Transition Authority' to manage the transition the economy we can be in a much better place by 2050. Treasury and Finance modelling through the Commonwealth can move the economy forward. Currently, the government has been refunding the CEFC beyond its intial commitment of $12 Billion from 2012. The Clean Energy Finance Corporation. (CEFC) funding model does have complexity and prefers no changes in laws to facilitate project funding. It is governed by an Act of Parliament.

Those who have dedicated their time to invest in the science on this site come from all walks of life. Those who have been motivated to assist on this website and visit have been concerned enough to think about what it means to be in Australia and living with climate change. We are the victims of our own success in being a motivated, “go-for-it” community. The simple science is as simple as a chemistry test without the Periodic Table.

The many contributors of this website are scientists, but also concerned individuals, who like most here just want to see Australia and the world evolve as a better place… and in a smarter and cleaner way. Don’t leave it to just the scientists. Make it happen! Please explore and consider what it may be like to be born today and consider life on Earth if your kids were turning 30…in 2051! This website is designed to educate and be “food for thought” but it can be much, much more!
Many things are possible if we are determined to make it so!

This website and the concepts herein have been created to move government, industry, and the wider community forward together. The concepts have been developed and compiled for Australia and this focus is on the Australian economy and its environment. Australia holds a unique place in the world and is a place that people love and admire. Our goal and a primary aim is to keep it safe for future generations to come…! And we all can play a role.
Applying a high social principle to climate policies to mitigate for the future is the only way that we can rationally transition. As one of our contributors has stated “We cannot let Australia slip into oblivion. Most Australians truly love the Sunburnt country. It is just finding a way forward that really works and it is important to keep it real and practical”

Climate wars do not need to exist here. Only practical solutions. Think for now and the future beyond the current world of climate change angst. Live the science to make it happen.
